Max, the Wirehaired Doxie -Adopted!!

Update: Max is officially adopted and in his new home. When we left he was running and playing with some of his toys that we left for him. The adopters are so excited to have him. He was a whole lot less shy today than he was on our first visit, which was so nice to see. I think he is going to do very well and they kept their weekend completely free to spend the entire weekend with him. Congrats to Max and his new family!!

Max is a sweet 3 year old wirehair mini. He is neutered and up to date on all his shots, and is house trained and crate trained. Max was bounced from two homes to the shelter in two days before we found him and he was understandably a bit shell-shocked and shy, but he has really come out of his shell. He’s getting more confident around strangers, and he loves to cuddle with “his” people. He will follow you around the house wanting to help with your task and curl up next to you to watch TV or read a book. But he’s no couch potato! Max loves to play fetch and go on hikes. He loves car rides and the adventures ahead. Max is good with cats — he completely ignores them! He gets along well with most dogs, but he’ll stand his ground with alpha dogs and would do best in a home with a mellow canine companion or as an only dog. He’s apprehensive around young children (we understand he had a bad experience with them in his former home), and would thrive in a home with older children who are gentle and give him some down time. Max is super smart and is learning leash manners and basic commands. He is such a sweet boy and would make a great addition to a family who is willing to be a bit patient with him until he gets use to his new home. Max is being fostered in ABQ and his adoption fee is $325
