Luke Skywaddler – ADOPTED!!!!

Luke is a very energetic little guy whose years and very white face do not slow him down any. He is an owner surrender, having lived with a family for 4 1/2 years. He was adopted by this family while Luke was definitely already into his senior years, but the family wanted to give him a home over a shelter kennel. However times changed, and the family now has a young child, and Luke and his other canine buddy were suffering from inattention. This is where NMDR comes in. The owners contacted us and stated specifically they wanted us to take him because of his age and we would know how to work with dachshunds. Luke is a very happy dog, as at his foster mom’s home he just runs around all over the place, going in and out of a doggie door many, many times a day, always coming back in with that tail wagging like crazy. Luke could be somewhere between 11 to 13 years old, but what an active little dog he is. He gulps his food down too quickly, doesn’t seem to mind what he’s being fed. He’s living with two other males and gets along very well. Because he was living in a home with a young child, we know that he gets along well with young kids — altho Luke only weighs about 12 lbs. and because of his age, it would be best he not be placed with small children. He appears to be totally housebroken, is very current on his shots and heartworm negative. He is also microchipped. He started out sleeping each nite in a soft bedroom chair by his foster mom’s bed, but decided that wasn’t where he wanted to be, and very quickly learned to use the doggie steps and sneak in under the covers and spend the nite. And he does love that bed, all the way down into the covers. He does have a waddle to his hind legs and we don’t know if he’s ever had back problems — his former owner said no, not while living with them. It could have happened with a much prior owner. Anyway, nothing slows him down — he jumps up into a chair, runs all over the yard and just has a busy day. His mom has yet to hear him bark.  He’s just a really sweet little dog, happy and full of energy, and needs to have another home to call his own for the remainder of his senior years. He is being fostered in Albuquerque and his fee would be $200.
