Hattie – ADOPTED!!!

Hello doxie lovers. My name is Hattie and I’m an 8-year-old smooth black and tan tweenie (sized between a miniature and standard). I’m spayed, microchipped, and heartworm negative, and have rabies, distemper, parvo, and Bordetella vaccines. My foster mom is helping me get down from 20lbs to 15lbs where the vet said I need to be. But you should know my weight doesn’t prevent me from doing any of the physical activity I want to do. I’m very easy going and have a very quiet, stable personality. I do enjoy having other dogs around but I don’t get really attached to other dogs so either way, I’m fine. Being a little older hasn’t slowed my sense of adventure and I’m as curious about things as I have ever been. Now listen, I just want to say right now that I really am a great gal so that’s why I’m still a little confused about why I was never allowed to be inside my previous human owner’s home. Backyards are great and all, but now that I’m being included in the activities that go on inside my foster mom’s home, well, let’s say I believe I’ve found heaven on earth. Having lived so many years isolated outside, I’m having some trouble adjusting to the whole social aspect of living among humans. I’m hoping you’ll understand that trusting people is a challenge for me and it takes me some time to warm up to humans. I may dart away from you when you approach me but as my foster mom will tell you, as soon as I determine your intention is to love and care for me, keep me safe, and do me no harm, I am the most loyal companion you could ask for and will reciprocate loving affection. After all, what a glorious thing it is to experience being loved and loving. I’ve even started giving kisses to my foster mom! I know the potty is outside and I’ve learned to use a doggie door, which, I have to say, is lots of fun. Even so, I’m still figuring out that inside home areas are not places to potty – like I said, I’m still learning the routine of living inside a home after only living outside. I’m really smart and know what some human words mean but I’ve never really been taught commands or trained formally. I’m willing to learn, though, and am cooperating with my foster mom as much as I can because I truly appreciate being part of a loving family. I’ll sleep wherever you want me to and can’t tell you how much I love sleeping indoors in a cozy area. Traveling in a car is fun and I do it well. So, basically, I’m a little sweetheart who would love to be a cuddly companion for one human, two humans, or even a family of humans – it doesn’t matter to me as long as we can make wherever we are a furever home together. I’m being fostered in NE Albuquerque and my adoption fee is $200.
