Jack – ADOPTED!!!

Hi! My name is Jack and I’m a 7-year-old smooth red standard doxie. I was born on 10/4/2008 in Oklahoma and somehow made my way to a pet store in Rio Rancho where, at 8 weeks old, I became part of a family. My family recently surrendered me to NMDR after life circumstances rendered them unable to care for me any longer. I was neutered on 04/06/2015 and still am trying to figure out how to restrain myself from marking inside the house. I know to potty outside and am really good at it! I especially love using a doggie door. I am microchipped, heartworm negative, and have up-to-date rabies, distemper, parvo, and Bordetella vaccines. My vaccinations and city license need to be renewed in April 2016. I’ve gained 7lbs over the past few months so my foster mom is helping me get down from 25lbs to around 18-20lbs where she thinks I probably should be. But you should know my weight doesn’t prevent me from doing any of the physical activity I want to do. I’m pretty easy going but love to play, especially with another dog, so I definitely want to be part of a family with at least one other dog. I’ve tried playing with cats but they don’t really like to play with me. I love to be outside and am adventurous and as curious about things as I have ever been. I’d really like to be taken for walks to expel my energy because I’ve got a lot of it. I’m really smart and know what some human words mean but I’ve never really been taught commands or trained formally. I’m willing to learn, though, and am cooperating with my foster mom as much as I can because I truly appreciate being part of a loving family. I really like to sleep in bed with my humans but am open to other ideas you may have – just please no crating for long periods of time – I really do have good manners and can be trusted inside an open house. Traveling in a car is fun and I do it well. I have a charming grown/grumble sound I make sometimes but don’t worry, I’m not an aggressive boy. So, basically, I’m a handsome, incredibly soft and velvety sweetheart who would love to be a cuddly companion for one human, two humans, or even a family of humans – it doesn’t matter to me as long as we can make wherever we are a furever home together. I’m being fostered in NE Albuquerque and my adoption fee is $275. Come meet me at the NMDR Adoption Event inside the Petco at Academy and San Mateo on Saturday January 30th from 12pm-3pm
