Introducing Diego to our viewers — this darling chihuahua is a Courtesy Listing by NMDR for one of our long time volunteers that owns this wonderful dog.  His current owner is soon to move into housing where, due to health reasons, it is not feasible for her to care for her dogs.  She acquired Diego a few years ago when she readily agreed to take him and his dachshund female partner (now deceased) to care for them as their original owner was dying.  Thru the goodness of the current owner’s very big heart, Diego stayed on at her house, living very comfortably with his other canine friends.  But now we must try to find a new locale for Diego.  His credentials:  He is about 8 years old, very docile (until you try to pick him up and then he will emit a growl and you must wait until he is ready to jump up into your lap himself), he is not a barker, so that means he is a quiet dog until he sees the mail carrier arrive — well heck, all doggies seem to bark at that person — and when you approach him, watch for the tail to wag and that means he’s accepting of your gentle soon-to-be touch.  Diego is also up to date on shots, and is microchipped and heartworm negative.  And yes, he does like to sleep with his human, will snuggle right next to her/him, but promptly moves away when his human moves.  He readily jumps upon the couch to take a snooze, no lifting required of him and besides he doesn’t like to be lifted, as stated above.  If you would have an interest in this great little dog, please contact 505-821-7570 and leave your name and phone number if you should reach the answering machine instead of the human voice.  Calls will be returned in a very prompt manner.  There will be no adoption application required or calling of references on this particular listing.  We may need to check with your veterinarian tho to ease our minds that if you have a current animal, that animal is up to date on shots.  Diego is housed here in Albuquerque, and if you can find it in your heart to want to make this little guy part of your home, I am pleased to say there will be NO ADOPTION FEE ASKED.
