Ludvig – ADOPTED!!!

Ludvig, 11-years-young, came to NMDR because of snipping at his 8-year-old household
member who teased and taunted him. He was given a temper test at Animal Humane and has
no aggression whatsoever. Only that he should be with older well-behaved children. His past
family had him from puppyhood to age 10. He was given to the subsequent family because they
had a baby that became a toddler and we all know that sudden, unpredictable movements,
along with pulling ears etc. isn’t tolerated by Dachshunds.
When I received him he was wearing diapers and that was his routine. The family did not allow
him outside except on walks so he had a lot of accidents. However his foster family has a
doggie door, a big back yard, and two other Dachshunds to teach him. He is doing well on his
second day without diapers. He is beginning to use the door and has had only one accident.
He sleeps in his crate at night and roams free with the other dogs when his family is not at
home. He uses the doggie door and has no accidents.
Now to his personality- Ludvig is a happy, smart, active, affectionate, social dog! He loves to
meet people and dogs. Walks well on a leash and plays well in a dog park. He loves to chase
his ball. He gives our cranky female dog a wide berth. He has made great friends with our male
Dachshund.
He rides well in the car in his crate. He is good with guests, even those who bring their
dog(s).The former family says that he is good with cats but his foster family does not have any
cats so they cannot evaluate that.
He is missing hair on his tail and it seems to sunburn. We are using sunscreen. He also has a
growth on his tail that the previous owners had checked out and is not a problem.
I think that he will make a great companion dog either as an only dog or with other dogs. He will
bring joy to his forever family!  He’s being fostered in Albuquerque and his adoption fee is $200.
