Lewis – ADOPTED!!!

My name is Lewis, and I am a chocolate brown Tweenie neutered boy about 14 years old, and recently lost the only home I ever knew.  My owners got divorced, and no-one was able to take care of the dogs, so they called New Mexico Dachshund Rescue.   I have been with my foster family a couple of weeks now, had to have most of my teeth removed because they were rotten, ticks pulled off, anal glands cleaned, toenails trimmed and had to start on some medicine for my heart.  I feel so much better now!  I am very sweet and cuddly, and will sleep in a dog bed or with a human.  I was kept in crate in my old home, and most of the hair is rubbed off my tail, but it is growing back.  My fur was kind of rough, but it is getting softer, and I love baths.  My old home had a child, and he loved me and I like kids.  I have lived with another dog, but she is very bossy, takes my food, and tells me to move if she wants my place.  I am playing gently with some of the boy dogs here, and it is fun.  I will go in and out of the doggie door, but need some supervision to make sure I go outside when I need to potty.  I like to go on walks with the dogs here, I stay with the group and that is a pleasure.  I don’t have heartworms, do have all my shots, and will need to take my VetMedin heart medicine for the rest of my life.  I am moderately active and would want a home with someone who can love me and go for walks and watch TV together. I weigh about 14 pounds.  I’m being fostered in southern Colorado and my Adoption fee is $200.
