Hello everyone out there in Doxie World!!

I’m Howdy and I’m a 10 year old ,tri-color, rough coat, formerly rtfdg4ezmale Dachshund, and if you listen to my baying voice, you probably will hear some hound mixed in there. I am a standard guy, weighing in at about 27 pounds. I have had a bit of a hard life. When my previous owner was arrested and sent to jail, my family surrendered me to the Espanola shelter right around Thanksgiving of last year. They fixed me up by pulling all my rotten teeth, gave me those yucky shots and tested me for heartworm, which was negative by the way!! I recovered nicely from my ordeal there and have settled into my foster home nicely, but due to my background, I’m still a little afraid of being picked up. I like to come and sit on the couch and get a head scratch or two and a gentle petting. but I don’t like to be grabbed. I like my dog food which is dry kibble, but like all Doxies, don’t mind a little snack once in a while!! I love to go walkies, but I go at my pace which is kind of a slow Doxie gallop. I haven’t totally learned about the doggie door, but I will bark to go out and in. I kind of play with the other dogs, but I’m more of a loner. I prefer to sleep in my dog bed at night, but I have been know to use the doggie steps and get on the big bed when my people are napping. I think I would do best with a male person or people that are kind and gentle to me. Not sure I like little humans and haven’t been around those kitty things. I’m being fostered in southern Colorado and my adoption fee is $200.

Can you find room in your heart and home for this senior guy?
