Kenny and Duke have been adopted together!

This is Kenny. He is a very handsome 2 year old red smooth dachshund. Kenny is Duke’s son (Duke is the 4 year old in the picture with the black collar) and both were owner surrendered to NMDR due to their military owner being assigned overseas for a couple years. We would like to keep them together since they have been together for Kenny’s whole life. They are sweet and loving and go into their crate willingly on command. They love to sit on your lap and enjoy the occasional banana and peanut butter as a treat.

Duke and Kenny are being fostered in Albuquerque. Kenny’s adoption fee is $275 if he adopted by himself or $350 for both Duke and Kenny together. Please fill out an application for these precious boys today!

Shane

Shane has been adopted and has settled nicely into his new forever home!

Shane is a very handsome 4 year old red smooth boy. He came into rescue from a shelter so not much is known about his past. He is sweet and loving and is looking for a forever home! While he is still working on his housetraining habits, he is crate trained and sleeps well through the night in his crate. He LOVES to be cuddled and held and is a fairly mellow dog most of the time. He gets along great will all other dogs and enjoys running and playing with them. He is very obedient and does not have a dominant personality at all. Cinnamon

cinnamon

Cinnamon has been adopted!

Cinnamon is an 8yo, 11 pound female red smooth dachshund. Cinnamon was very sick with Giardia when she first came into rescue and has had to work hard to get back up to a healthy weight through the diligence of her foster mom. She is now healthy, happy, up to date on all her shots and is spayed. Cinnamon is very affectionate and is completely house broken. She gets along very well with the other dogs in her foster home (another dachshund and a St. Bernard). Cinnamon loves to be in your lap but will sometimes snap at other animals when they try to make her share the space. Cinnamon knows her name and comes when she is called. She is also terrific at walking on a leash and loves going for walks. She sleeps in bed with her foster mom at night and is also very attached to her “foster dad”. Cinnamon would love to find a forever home where she can calmly live out the rest of her happy life, she has so much love to give and deserves a forever family to love her back. Cinnamon is being fostered in Albuquerque and her adoption fee is $200.

Amber

Amber has been adopted and is very loved and cherished in her new forever home!

Meet Amber! Amber is a young dachshund – chihuahua mix (definitely more dachshund than chi, we think). She is about 1 year old, has been spayed, and is up to date on all her shots and is house broken. Amber has a doxie body, ears, and tail but has very long legs. She has a darling face which will make you melt when you look into her eyes. She is very affectionate and readily obeys when told to stop doing something. She has a little bit of food aggression so she is being fed in a separate room from the rest of the dogs in her foster home.  Amber loves to play with the other dachshunds she shares her foster home with and gets along beautifully with all other dogs and people. Amber does show some separation anxiety when her foster mom leaves the house for a little while and tends to chew on things she’s not supposed to chew on. This may be due to regular “puppy chewing” or may be slight separation anxiety so she may need to be crated when her people leave to avoid any destruction. Amber is a real beauty who would love to find a forever home with people and other pets for her to play with all day! Amber is being fostered in Albuquerque and her adoption fee is $200.

Freckles

Freckles has been adopted and is thriving in her new home!!

Meet Freckles! Freckles is a 5 year old female piebald dapple beauty. She’s a 15-pound “tweenie” dachshund who is very loving and attentive to her foster mom. She was surrendered by her former owners because, while she got along well with the other adult dachshunds in the household, she attacked a new puppy that was brought into the home. Freckles lived peacefully in her first foster home for about three months before she started to attack one of the smaller “resident” dogs.  In her new foster home, Freckles seems to really enjoy the company of the other dogs, however she is very closely monitored so no more altercations can occur. We feel Freckles needs a home with only one other dog of a larger breed, where the larger dog is already well established in the home. Freckles is spayed, is up to date on her shots, house broken and crate trained, and would love to find a loving forever home. Freckles is being fostered in Fort Stanton and her adoption fee is $275.Freckles face

Gus – courtesy listing

Say hello to Gus, a dapper red piebald boy.  Gus is a mellow guy that would love to find a home of his own where he could just “hang” with his humans and enjoy life.  He came into rescue when a person operating a puppy mill passed away.  He is about 6 years of age and muscular, active and healthy.  He uses a doggy door to go outside of the kennel building to do his business.  Not a bark or digger, just a proud and handsome boy that wants to be your best friend.  Neutered, vaccinated, health checked and micro-chipped.

To adopt Gus contact Sahuaro Dachshund Rescue in Tucson:  wiredox2@msn.com  and we will get an application sent to you.  An adopter will have to come to Tucson when it is time to pick up your new companion.
