Fosters needed!!

Just Arrived

Mar. 21.

I’m Leo and I’m looking for my forever home!

  • Hi!  I’M LEO AND I NEED SUPPORT!

    Santa Fe Area

Co-Parenting, Medical Fostering, Adoption?  What Works for You?

I’m a feisty 4-year-old, 11-pound miniature dachshund with a weird disease called megaesophagus which is well managed with love and care. My mom has done a great job and loves me so much, but she needs to travel sometimes and leave me behind. She has no committed backup she can trust to be sure I am cared for. So that’s why I’m asking if you want to help us.

Although I seem just fine most of the time and no one would know anything is amiss, I actually need someone who is at home with me a lot, working from home as my mom does, or maybe retired.  For example, I must eat all my meals (3X/day) sitting up because my esophagus is enlarged and food doesn’t pass through easily, and then I have to be upright for 30 minutes afterwards to give my food time to get to my stomach. I cannot have treats, which is a bummer, and I bear careful watching to be sure I do not eat anything except my very bland canned food. Me!  Me, who loves everything and everyone!

You can go out, of course, and I’m great in a room by myself for several hours looking forward to your return. Oh, what a greeting I give! I’m good with laidback dogs, a really good boy, take my business outside, and I’m the most loving dog my mom has ever known. I’m her 6th dachshund!  But she needs help and she is open to whatever situation we can find that is good for everyone.

So, if you would like to be part of the Leo Team, please let us know. Mom would like to co—parent with someone in Santa Fe or not too far away, sharing me and the responsibility, giving everyone needed breaks. She really loves taking care of me when she can! And she is open to an adoption to the right dedicated person who will return my love and commit to what I need.  Or simply medical fostering from time to time as she needs to travel because of work sometimes as well as a family situation.

All that said, I leave you with a WOOF! and appreciation for listening to my story.
Call or text 505-690-6670 if I am your guy!
