Introducing Coco, aka Little Coco Bean, a young, dark chocolate and tan miniature female dachshund estimated to be about 2 years old. She is spayed, microchipped, has her shots, is heartworm negative, is potty trained, and knows how to use a doggie door. Coco came to NMDR emaciated at only 7.4lbs but she has gained some weight and is looking quite fabulous these days at about 8lbs. Coco is a very sweet young darling who is submissive yet very assertive and gets along with other dogs. Coco’s temperament with young children is good but it is certain she cannot be around cats. Coco needs some training with general manners but she is a quick learner. She experiences some separation anxiety when her foster mom leaves the house and she is sensitive to loud voices and what tone is used with her. These things are expected to resolve once she is comfortable and secure with her new humans and environment. Coco is very adaptable, spunky, curious, and energetic, wants to play with other dogs, and loves playing with toys. She is sometimes territorial with her foster mom but is learning to share. She walks very well on a leash. Coco has learned to use doggie stairs and she is very agile, jumping easily up on furniture. She responds well to direction and redirection and is learning what it means to come, sit, and stay. Coco has a bad habit of begging for human food and she is learning that is not okay. Coco travels well as long as she can climb all over you so she needs to be crated or seat-belted when in an automobile and she does very well when she is crated. Coco likes to sleep with her foster mom and in typical doxie fashion she likes to burrow. She really enjoys laying next to her foster mom on the couch or in her lap or on her legs. Coco also has a fondness for climbing up behind your neck to hang out between you and the furniture and sometimes she’ll climb up and stick like glue to the back of your neck and on top of your shoulders when you’re standing up! Coco loves being outside and she loves laying in the sun on her back. She’s just an adorable little darling with a very entertaining personality. Coco is being fostered in Albuquerque and is ready to find her forever home. Her adoption fee is $325.
