Henri J is a most distinquished “older” gentleman that you will fall in love with the minute you meet.   He is so mild mannered, very loving, doesn’t bother anything, loves other dogs, likes to be with his human and is just the best all-around dog that me, his foster mom, has ever had.  Henri J is approximately 11-12 years old, he is a standard in size, and weighs 21 lbs. as of this writing..  He has lost weight since coming into the NMDR rescue program.  He has quite a story to his background – he was picked up as a stray on US Highway 314 south of the Valencia Animal Shelter, and the kind folks there found him wandering on the highway.   Now you can imagine what that meant — he was apparently no longer wanted in his last household and the unkind humans had it all figured out he would eventually find his way to the shelter.   His life has not been the best – he seems to have survived living in at least three different households in his life, starting out in Colorado Springs, then into Albuquerque, and from there we are not quite sure.  When he was brought to my house, I felt he needed a somewhat sophisticated name since he was older and apparently “unwanted”, and in doing so, decided to change the spelling to go along with his now image of “Mr. Wonderful Dog Ever”.  In doing so, the letter “J” was tacked on just for fun, but it soon became evident that the “J” really stood for something, and that turned out to be “Journey”, as Henri has had several journeys in his life.   Not only ending up at the shelter, but in arriving at his foster home, it was very evident he had a case of kennel cough – and a severe case at that.   After days of treatment, then it was time for him to have dental work – and oh, what a mess of bad teeth this poor little guy was living with.  He ended up losing 12 teeth –  which was a rather rough situation as Henri also is diagnosed with having a moderate heart murmur and he does have some cloudiness in the corneas of his eyes.   This is not to say he is not healthy — he is quite healthy for all he has been through – recent blood work gave him flying colors on those counts.  And you should see him run!    And he loves to play with toys – he will tug of war with you until your arm gives out.   He is now up to date on all shots needed, is heartworm free and microchipped.   The one thing he really enjoys is “FOOD” — and sleeping on his human’s bed is to his delight.   Anyone who could or would possibly consider giving Henri their home and their love for the rest of his golden years will be rewarded with a companion who will give you his love in return — ten fold.  He is being fostered in Albuquerque and his adoption fee would be $200 — and it would be the best $200 you would ever spend.   Thanks for reading.
