This handsome boy is named Rocket and he is 10 years old.   He is part of the Las Lunas 11 that NMDR rescued, as you will read in the story above.  Rocket is a small standard in size, weighing 22 lbs.  At his foster mom’s house he is very cordial, has accepted and gotten along beautifully with the other dogs in the household, and he and his MOM are best buddies.  But it appears that Rocket would do best as the only dog in his home and if there are children, that they be above the age of 12, as he exhibits nervousness when a smaller child or even a smaller dog is presented.  With adults, there is no problem.   He spends his days sleeping away in the doggie chair, as do all the others, or running outside at the mere hint of a noise.  He will bark to let anyone know he is there.   He truly is a striking dog in his features, very long dachshund type of snout, long ears and shorter legs (which we don’t see much of recently).   And he is at this point, 90 per cent housebroken.  Rocket is up to date on his shots, is neutered, heartworm negative, but he will need dental.   All of the 11 dogs that we took in were sadly in need of dental work.     And he uses the doggie door whenever he deems it necessary.   He is being fostered in Albuquerque, and his adoption fee would be $200.
