Hi! My name is Mancha, and I’m a spectacular piebald shorthair dachshund! I was born in November 2021, so I’m about 15 months old. My mother, June, is also available for adoption. I weigh a sturdy 17 lbs, and every bit of it is muscle.
I am a total cuddlebug and snuggler. I’ll probably growl at you when I first meet you, but I’m all talk and no action in that regard. Give me a minute, a smile, a soft voice and a pet and I’ll be in your lap! But, I am a typical one-year old dachshund – energetic and very curious. I love to explore every inch of wherever I am, and chew bones are my favorite.
When I went to the vet the other day, everyone in the place gave me lots of attention when I visited for my exam, vaccinations and heart worm test (which was negative, yay!). I loved all the attention so much that I didn’t even cry! I’ve been told I get to go back in a week to be spayed, and I can’t wait to see all my new friends again!
In my foster home I have seven dogs to play with (one being my mom, June). Some of the dogs are small, some are medium, and one is huge. I like being with them all. I’m learning to walk on a leash, and I’ve been very good riding in a crate in the car (even though I’d rather be in someone’s lap). I haven’t met a cat yet, or farm animals, or chickens.
I am working on my house-training and my foster family says that I’m getting better every day. I haven’t used the dog door, but I like going in and out when the door is open. I am crate trained and I sleep in there. I also love to nap next to my foster family on the couch! My foster family has a great boy, and I get along pretty well with him.
My adoption fee is $625, which doesn’t quite cover the veterinary care I’ve gotten at New Mexico Dachshund Rescue, but believe me, I am worth a lot more than that. If you think I could be your best friend, please submit an adoption application right away!
