Hi, I’m Thumper, a 10-year old, dark reddish-brown male miniature dachshund. Right now, I weigh a little over 10 lbs – my foster mom is trying to fatten me up to 11 lbs, or even more. She thinks that I belonged to an elderly gentleman who passed away and unfortunately, his son didn’t want to bother with me. I was surrendered to Animal Control, but quickly fostered out to where I am now.

 I don’t think I was socialized well, so my mom takes me to the dog park every afternoon where I am learning to deal with new people and dogs. It’s going well. Everybody I meet thinks I’m really cute and even big dogs many times my size don’t scare me so much anymore. In the mornings we go on long walks, which I love. I have no trouble walking on the leash.

All this walking is making me stronger; I think. I do have a heart murmur, for which I get to eat a pill every day. On October 18 I am going to get my teeth cleaned so I hope to find my forever home soon thereafter. Of course, I am “fixed”, chipped and have my shots. I’m being fostered in Albuquerque and my adoption fee is $200
