Trooper -ADOPTED!!!!

Trooper is a brave, resilient, distinguished red, 14lb gentleman who is 10-12 years old. He was found by a Bernalillo County Animal Control officer in the South Valley on 4/5/18 with serious injuries. He came to the NMDR on 4/10/18 and since then has made a remarkable full recovery. He has been neutered, microchipped, is up-to-date on shots including rabies, is heart worm negative, had an anal gland expression, and has had dental work and a teeth-cleaning. He eats dry or soft kibble and is a voracious eater who has a fast metabolism so he requires a little more food than his same sized foster sisters. Trooper is quite a character with lots of spunky personality and a very assertive nature. He enjoys being part of a doggie pack but is definitely more interested in being the focus of a human. He is very affectionate and adores receiving affection. He especially loves to cuddle in bed in the morning with his human. Trooper is potty trained and rarely marks. He knows how to use a doggie door, is leash trained, and enjoys walks. He is a vocal boy who makes sounds to express himself. He knows some basic commands like “get back,” “stay back,” “sit,” and “come.” Trooper loves to cuddle and prefers to lie next to a human body. He does not jump up or stand up on his hind legs and he uses doggy steps to get up on furniture and the bed. He likely has arthritis in the rear area of his body. Trooper is active, curious, and adventurous. He does not like being left out of any activities, wants to be with a human as much as possible, and his long gazes emulate loving hugs. Trooper’s tolerance of cats is unknown and he should not be in a home with young children. Trooper is an exceptional companion and would be perfect for someone home a lot because he loves his humans. His natural joy will make his forever home feel warm and complete. He needs a safe and secure home where he can experience love and nurturing because that’s what he gives of himself. Trooper is ready for his forever home and he is being fostered in Albuquerque. His adoption fee is $200.
