Hi, I’m Toby from Las Cruces.  I am a really cute black long-haired dachshund with tan spots where my eyebrows are, and on my cheeks, chest and legs. I still am very frisky and curious about things, even though I am supposed to be about 8 years old. There is just a little grey around my mouth to show my age, but my teeth look remarkable good.

My foster mom knows I was picked up as a stray on July 5. She thinks I freaked out because of all the noise and bangs on July 4 and ran away. She also thinks I belonged to someone who thought I was a lap dog and who fed me “people” food because I am a very, very picky eater at this point. She is trying to make me eat proper “dog” food but I have not yet developed a taste for it.

I am a little leery of strangers until I get used to them but when I go to the dog park I love meeting the dogs there and join them in their games.

When I was found I came to the animal shelter in Las Cruces where I was neutered, chipped and got all my shots. Then a kind lady brought me to Albuquerque where I hope to find a lovely forever home.
