Introducing Buddy (AKA Butter Bean, Tiny Tim). Buddy is just as sweet as they come. He loves to cuddle and snuggle all day and is happiest next to or on his person. Buddy came to us from a shelter in Las Cruces. His story before that is unknown. What we do know is he’s approximately 10 years old, at some point had his pelvis broken and has severe arthritis in both of his elbows causing him to walk with “a hitch in his giddy-up.” He gets around the house just fine and tucks himself into his bed each night but cannot go up or down stairs due to his mobility issues. His comfort level is maintained by a few affordable medications. He is current on vaccines, is heartworm negative, and has recently had a dental treatment. He also had a bladder stone that has been treated with a prescription diet and dissolved. He will need to be maintained on a prescription diet going forward to prevent the formation of additional stones. He’s not picky when it comes to food. In fact, he’s a bit of a food hound and his diet will have to be monitored carefully to maintain a healthy weight. He is very good about going potty outside if he’s able to go out about 3-4 times a day. He’s presumably a purebred and weighs in at about 17 pounds putting him in the “tweenie” or small standard category. He is absolutely in love with his foster mom’s two daughters aged 7 and 8 and does very good with their snuggles and kisses. He might have a harder time with younger children since he’s not able to escape as easily as the average dog. Overall he’s a sweet, little love who needs someone who will take him in and cuddle him as much as possible. He’s currently being fostered in Los Alamos, and his adoption fee is $200.
