Meet Wally, the absolute cutest doxie mix around! Wally was part of a group of dogs that were abandoned at a truck stop along Rt 550. Wally is a pretty young guy, only about 1-2 years old and weighing 13 lbs. He appears to be a mix of dachshund and possibly a beagle.  Wally may be shy or even scared when meeting new humans and dogs and he will bark very loudly. Once he meets a new human or dog and feels comfortable he will no longer bark and instantly want to have all of the new person’s attention. He will give kisses freely and run to the door excitedly when someone comes home.

 

Wally is doing very well learning how to walk on a lead and he is fully house trained! Wally would really benefit from formal and consistent training regarding basic commands such as “Come” and “Sit”. 

 

Wally is full of energy and enjoys playing with all of his foster brothers. Once he is comfortable, Wally is not afraid to play with the biggest of dogs and enjoys playing tug and being chased around the yard. Wally does like to sleep in many different locations throughout the night, from sharing a bed with some foster brothers, to sleeping under foster mom or dad’s pillows on their bed!

 

Wally will do best in a home with other active dogs and children. Wally seems to welcome children much faster than adults, and will bark a lot at dogs he does not know. Wally has a bunch of young dog behaviors, such as getting into laundry, pulling out shoes and searching for someone or something to play with. Since coming to his foster family about one month ago, Wally has been surrounded by his foster family members, and it is unknown how he would handle being alone. In the past, Wally has whined and cried when someone in the family has gone out to the store or to school, however he is getting much better with his insecurities. 

 

Wally appears to be in perfect health. He is heart worm negative, up to date on all required vaccinations and has been neutered. Wally is being fostered in the Albuquerque area and his adoption fee is $250.
